Ensemble was founded in June 1995 to capitalize on our expertise and experience in Object-Oriented (OO) technology. Our first consulting contract in August 1995 was for Prism Systems (now a Nortel Networks subsidiary). Since then, Ensemble has evolved into an industry leader in object technology, enterprise solutions, and software development consulting services. We have participated in a wide variety of projects with customers around the world.
Initially much of our work was for software development companies such as Rational Software Corporation and BEA Systems, Inc. who approached us to help them with software bridging problems. We developed an excellent relationship with Rational and for four years Ensemble was the main development team for Rational Rose. We were also closely involved with the development of the Rational Unified Process and Rational Process Workbench.
In 1996, Rational awarded Ensemble a contract to create a bi-directional integration between Rose and Software through Pictures® (StP®). In 1997, Ensemble created Rose Delphi Link. Later that year, Ensemble obtained two additional contracts—one with Honeywell International Inc. to integrate Rose with RDD100, and the second with Rational to build a Rose Regression framework. Over the years, Ensemble created a total of eleven Rose links.
At about the same time, we created Ensemble Streams, a business process modeling tool. Streams enables analysts and engineers to build workflow models that clearly communicate business and systems information to end users.
In December 2000, Streams and four of the Rose links were acquired by Rational.
Venturing into new technologies and gaining experience in J2EE and e-commerce, Ensemble created icDVD.com—an on-line DVD rental store—in the summer of 2000. We also developed a WebGain Studio J2EE course outline and participated in delivering the course to WebGain clients worldwide. WebGain was a jointly funded venture between Warburg Pincus and BEA Systems.
After experiencing the frustrations of JSPs and bare J2EE servers, we were relieved to move on to Adobe® Flex technology and the higher-level enterprise services of Adobe LiveCycle®.
Now we are using our experience to provide custom enterprise solutions to companies in key market segments.
